Beyond Movement
Independently owned by Amy Pozzy, a certified Stott pilates instructor in mat, reformer, cadillac, chair, and barrel with nearly 10 years of local teaching experience, Beyond Movement is located near downtown Bangor, ME. Amy began taking pilates for a repetitive movement injury and, with a lifelong interest in exercise, quickly began to see the mind-body benefits of pilates for physical fitness and long-term injury prevention.
What is Pilates?
Developed by the late Joesph Pilates, a German physical trainer, pilates is a mind-body exercise system designed to strengthen the weak and challenge the strong. The benefits of pilates include:

What is Stott?
Stott is an anatomically based approach to the original Pilates method using modern exerceise and rehabilitation techniques which emphasize natural alignment, strengthen core muscles, and expand an individual's full peripheral range of motion. Based upon knowledge of the muscles and their movement, Stott pilates helps restore the natural curves of the spine, relieving tension and resulting in a balanced, aligned body that moves with ease.
Who can benefit?
Everyone! The Pilates repertoire consists of more than 500 exercises on both mat and equipment, from beginner to advanced, which may be modified to address individual needs.
